Dr. Meurs - Siberian HCM Form
Dear Alida:
I am currently involved in the Siberian HCM study that was initiated by
Siberian Research Inc and then submitted to Dr. Leslie Lyons. The existing
samples and reports will be sent to my laboratory for further research.
We are interested in locating additional Siberians that have tested HCM
positive by echocardiogram or necropsy. Please submit these samples
directly to me at the address listed below. Include the brief attached form
as well as echocardiograms and blood samples for DNA research.
Note: Catteries participating in Dr. Lyons allergen research or
other genetic studies should send samples to her lab. Samples from Siberian
cats that have tested positive for HCM should be sent directly to me.

SRI Note: If you have a Siberian that has been diagnosed
with HCM by a cardiologist, please submit a blood sample to Dr. Meurs as
soon as possible.
Dr. Kathryn Meurs requires blood samples to look for new HCM gene
mutations. She must obtain a sufficient number of blood samples
from HCM positive Siberians prior to beginning genetic studies.
The buccal (saliva) swabs sent to Dr. Lyons contain sufficient DNA to
look for existing known mutations or new mutations once they have been found.
They cannot be used to search for new mutations.
